Position Overview
As a Senior Urban Designer, you will play a crucial role in developing urban design frameworks and masterplans that reflect the practice's commitment to engaging with communities and creating designs that embody social values. You will be responsible for preparing design proposals, presenting them to clients and planning authorities, and contributing to the practice's dedication to the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge.
Responsibilities
Develop urban design frameworks and masterplans in suburban settings, focusing on sustainability and biodiversity
Engage with communities and stakeholders throughout the design process to ensure inclusive and socially responsible outcomes
Prepare compelling design proposals and confidently present them to clients and planning authorities
Contribute to the practice's commitment to sustainability and the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge through innovative design solutions
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on a diverse range of projects, fostering a culture of teamwork and knowledge sharing
Requirements
Proven experience in urban design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating the successful design and delivery of complex projects
Proficiency in relevant software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and GIS
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with communities and stakeholders
A comprehensive understanding of UK planning policy and regulations
A passion for sustainable design principles and a commitment to community engagement
Confidence in managing project teams and building successful relationships with clients, consultants, and local communities
Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills, including proficiency in hand-drawing
