An architecture practice known for designing high-quality modern buildings, is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to cover a maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled manager to oversee the practice's operations and contribute to its continued success of one of the best known practices in the UK. 


Position Overview

As the Practice Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of the practice. You will be responsible for managing all HR functions, overseeing financial processes, providing leadership to the studio team, and maintaining the ISO 9001 system. Your expertise will contribute to the practice's ability to deliver exceptional architectural projects.


Responsibilities

  • Manage all HR functions, including staff welfare and maintaining a supportive work environment

  • Oversee recruitment processes, job descriptions, offers, and onboarding of new staff

  • Organise performance reviews and salary reviews, creating internal salary bands

  • Handle all financial processes, including projections, cash flow, billing, invoicing, and reporting

  • Monitor budgets, expenditures, and profitability, providing financial analysis to Directors

  • Oversee project fee agreements and incorporate information into projections and cash flow

  • Liaise with accountants for management reports, final accounts, and R&D claims

  • Provide leadership to the studio team and oversee all operational elements

  • Manage annual insurance renewals and provide documentation for new business opportunities

  • Maintain the ISO 9001 system and conduct internal audits for compliance


Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a management role within a creative business

  • Proven experience in financial management, HR, and operations management

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to work effectively with teams

  • Willingness to undertake other tasks and learn new skills to improve office management

  • Knowledge of CMAP and XERO software is desirable
