Position: Permanent, Full-Time, Hybrid Working 5 days a week
A boutique developer, founded tens years’ ago, is looking for a managing partner to join the business. Having started the business 10 years ago as a developer they have steadily grown in stature and presence, moving from smaller projects to the more complex. They now have a whole architectural design team alongside the developer team. The architectural team takes care of all design and delivery of their own projects as well as private clients.
After a decade of steady growth in terms of project and public profile, they have now reached the critical mass of where they want to hire a managing partner to run the architectural side of the business as well as work with the development arm of the business. This has been in the running for some time but has also come off the back of a circa £20m pound joint venture in West London. This project is a major undertaking, and will be a portfolio of exceptionally high-end branded residences.
They are looking for a managing partner or someone with experience in high-end residential projects that have a high pedigree. You will also need to have expertise in running teams at a more senior level. You should be an ARB registered architect to help you run the business effectively and whilst you can be involved in design, the focus is on a more strategic and management position.
In this role you will be responsible for helping to develop the business’s strategic direction in conjunction with the two founders. This will include in the realm of business development and importantly you should have the ability to develop and implement an overall strategic plan for the architectural side of the business.
It would be beneficial if you had some business development experience, however if not at least you should comfortable in the design and development of new business pitches and presentations. You should feel comfortable working with very high net-worth individuals. Other duties will be to manage the architectural team in worth individuals with projects including hiring of more junior positions within the business to help develop existing staff as well as hiring new members. You will help manage the general HR incl. general staff management, holidays, time-sheets, recruitment etc. This could be the identification of an external management team to liaise and manage the HR function. This is a real chance to build on what is already a wonderful business / brand into something larger with more visibility.
This is a really unique role in that you will be making the decision on the future of the business. This includes to selection and design of their new office, the chance to double the size of the business and impact the stratagem. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys to kick on from an established firm with two revenue streams. I don’t think it’s too hyperbolic to say this is a once in a decade opportunity for the right person, especially with the allocation of shares within the business.
They have a swathe of their own developments as well as for discerning clients working on multi-million-pound projects. All in all this is a rare and wonderful opportunity.
Since the role is a pivotal role within the business they are offering a good salary up to £85k. This also includes, post probation, a proportion of shares being offered to the successful candidate. The exact specifics and role is also open as it will be dependent on the person and therefore through a collaborative process.
