Circa 80 and further expanding, you will be responsible for securing new business and winning bids for one of the leading British Design Studios of the decade.
Some background about the company before we get into the nuts and bolts of your role. Formed in the early 2000’s, their bold ideas, strong forms, inventive solutions, and honest materials have filled their London studio with all scale of projects. From furniture commissions and striking private homes to collaborations with international businesses and fashion brands, the practice’s modernist ideals and sympathetic approach to texture, history and place have seen them quickly become the go-to for outstanding design across a range of sectors. Today, they have an interdisciplinary team of circa 80 based in their London design house / workshop studio. Always at the forefront of technology, research, experimentation and inventive craft, no project is ever the same. They are bold, ambitious, and visionary and they have an extensive record of incredible projects and awards to back them.
Now, with a range of architectural, interior and product design projects coming to completion, this exciting position has become available for the right person. Working collaboratively with the wider New Business team, several Directors, and the Communications Manager, you will be responsible for securing strategic new projects for the company. Alongside identifying new business opportunities, you will be responsible for putting together and presenting outstanding pitch documents and submissions.
This position is ideal for a proactive Business Development/Bid Manager with excellent architecture/design industry knowledge, experience, and contacts.
Role & Responsibilities:
Managing all enquiries that come in to the studio, filtering and presenting chosen opportunities to the senior management team
Producing agendas and presenting at weekly New Business meetings and Monthly Management meetings
Producing bids, pitches, EOIs, PQQs and client presentations
Working with key members of the project team and client organisation to obtain the information required to produce a winning bid.
Responding to clients’ and other stakeholders’ queries before, during and after the bid has been submitted.
Briefing the senior team ahead of networking events e.g. preparing guest-lists, bios, etc.
Working with the Communications Manager to check alignment with company business strategies
Maintaining and updating in-house databases, documents and project information
Required skills and experience:
Excellent written English and verbal communication skills
Proactive, can-do attitude
Experience in a similar role preferably in an architectural or creative design practice (ideally two years or more)
proven experience coordinating, compiling, and packaging bids/tenders for digital and hard-copy submission
An up-to-date network of relevant contacts
Excellent relationship-building and business skills
Strong presentation skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign essential)
Experience in bid copywriting would be beneficial but not necessary
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and a good eye for graphic presentation
Organised with an ability to set achievable goals and prioritise multiple work streams
Deadline-driven and committed to excellence.
Confidence to liaise with senior management and external client and consultant teams
General Information & Perks
23 days holiday (incl. 3 days over Christmas) + Bank Holidays
Working hours are 9:30am to 6pm
20 days holiday increased to 25 after two years continuous employment + bank holidays
Additional days leave gifted to cover the studio closure over the Christmas period
Generous percentage profit-share scheme (often £3k+ after one-year continuous employment)
