Company Overview

This is an award winning boutique architectural practice known for thoughtful, crafted design across private residential developments, housing refurbishments and cultural projects. Founded on principles of collaboration and mutual trust, the practice balances strong conceptual design with technical rigour and buildability. The studio works on diverse projects including private houses, residential schemes (30-50 units), and cultural exhibition spaces. The team values commitment, continuity and end-to-end project involvement, creating an environment where individuals are trusted with real responsibility and supported to develop their expertise over time.

Position Overview

As Project Architect, you'll lead technical delivery and project progression, supporting the directors in translating strong design ideas into well-resolved, buildable architecture. This role focuses on RIBA Stages 3 and 4, with exposure to Stage 5 where possible. You'll produce and coordinate detailed technical packages, support planning submissions, liaise with consultants and contractors, and mentor junior team members. This is a hands-on position emphasising problem-solving, technical confidence and delivery across a mix of project types.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to RIBA Stages 3 and 4, with exposure to Stage 5 delivery where possible

  • Produce and coordinate detailed technical drawings and construction information packages

  • Support planning submissions and ensure technical compliance with UK building regulations

  • Liaise with consultants, quantity surveyors and contractors on project delivery

  • Review costs, valuations and buildability alongside the wider consultant team

  • Mentor and support junior members of the studio team

  • Translate design concepts into resolved, buildable architecture across residential, housing and cultural projects

  • Work collaboratively with directors and the wider team to progress projects through all delivery stages

Essential Requirements

  • Strong experience delivering RIBA Stages 3 and 4 on UK-based projects

  • Solid understanding of UK building regulations and planning processes

  • Proven ability to produce and coordinate detailed technical drawings

  • Confidence working in a small, collaborative studio environment

  • Willingness to work full-time from the office

  • Long-term mindset – looking to stay and grow with the practice

Desirable

  • Exposure to RIBA Stage 5 or site-based experience

  • Experience on residential refurbishments or housing schemes

  • Experience coordinating with quantity surveyors and contractors on smaller projects

Alongside these benefits, you'll be immersed in a collaborative, design-led environment where technical excellence and long-term relationships matter.

You'll work closely with experienced directors, mentor emerging talent, and build genuine expertise across diverse project types in a studio that values your contribution and invests in your development.
