SALARY

Looking for a role where you can shape ideas from day one rather than just deliver someone else’s vision? This is an opportunity for an ARB-registered Design Architect to join a London studio known for its early-stage, concept-driven design.
You’ll work on large-scale residential, mixed-use, and masterplanning projects, helping to define the big moves — the layouts, the story, and the feel of entire places — before they move into delivery.
The Position
This is a role for an architect who loves to sketch, test ideas, and work through design problems as part of a collaborative team. You’ll help bridge the gap between directors and junior designers, guiding projects through feasibility and concept stages and setting a clear direction for the rest of the team to follow.
You’ll be involved in:
Shaping new communities from scratch, including residential neighbourhoods and their supporting facilities
Exploring early design ideas for high-rise and mixed-use developments
Working on resort-style and leisure-led projects that require a strong sense of place and proportion
Presenting and explaining your design thinking to clients, internal teams, and stakeholders
Responsibilities
Develop feasibility studies, capacity analyses, and concept designs for multi-building sites
Lead the early design stages with a focus on proportion, light, and spatial quality
Sketch by hand to communicate and test design ideas quickly
Work closely with Part 1s and Part 2s, mentoring and guiding them through design tasks
Compile and present design proposals to clients and planning authorities
Act as design guardian during schematic stage handovers to local delivery teams
Ensure compliance with building codes, escape routes, and basic planning requirements
Contribute to the studio’s culture of collaboration, sketching, and open design dialogue
Requirements
ARB-registered architect with 3–7 years’ post-Part 3 experience (exceptional 2-year candidates considered)
Strong design eye – confident with façade composition, layouts, and masterplanning moves
Comfortable working at large scale (multiple buildings, neighbourhoods, or masterplans)
Hand sketching skills essential – quick, clear, and confident communication of ideas
Solid understanding of layouts, planning rules, and daylight/escape considerations
Confidence presenting and explaining design thinking to colleagues and clients
Revit and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) skills desirable
Company Overview
This AJ100 studio is part of a global network of award winning architects, designers and masterplanners who have delivered over 2,000 projects across multiple countries. Despite its international reach, the team keeps its studio culture feel friendly, open, and collaborative — everyone, from Part 1s to directors, contributes ideas and helps shape projects.
The team’s ethos is simple: good design starts with good conversations. Directors still sit with the team, sketching out ideas together, and junior designers are encouraged to have a voice. Weekly socials, design competitions, and cultural outings keep the team connected and creative.
