Our client, a London-based architectural practice renowned for designing bespoke holiday homes in stunning natural environments across the Caribbean and Miami, is seeking an experienced Associate to join their team. As they transition into a more mature and professional organisation, they require a technically adept individual who can ensure consistency and quality across their projects while maintaining the practice's unique personality.


Position Overview

The Associate role is crucial in overseeing the office's output, ensuring consistency and quality across all projects. The successful candidate will challenge the directors and team on technical aspects of building assembly and detailing, providing expertise on how to assemble buildings with a focus on fine detailing. They will play a key role in reviewing and improving project documentation, particularly at the planning and construction drawing stages.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the output of the office to ensure consistency and quality across projects

  • Challenge the directors and team on technical aspects of building assembly and detailing

  • Provide technical expertise on how to assemble buildings, with a focus on fine detailing

  • Review and improve the quality of project documentation, particularly at planning and construction drawing stages

  • Analyse and adapt to different building regulations and technical criteria across various countries

  • Participate in important meetings with contractors and clients to demonstrate technical competence

  • Travel to project sites to meet clients and contractors, and oversee project implementation

  • Guide and mentor team members on technical aspects of projects


Requirements

  • Strong technical knowledge of construction drawings, including the ability to produce detailed plans at early stages

  • Familiarity with international building regulations and the ability to adapt to different countries' requirements

  • Proficiency in Vectorworks and SketchUp, with openness to learning new software as needed

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present confidently in client meetings

  • Flexibility to travel for project-related work

  • Adaptability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to oversee and guide team members

  • Approximately 15 years of experience in the field, ideally aged around 40, though exceptional younger candidates may be considered
